What happens at my first visit?

We take your medical history, measure your height and weight and calculate your BMI, and check your blood pressure. A GMC-registered doctor then discusses whether treatment is appropriate for you, along with lifestyle advice.

Am I eligible for weight-management treatment?

Suitability is assessed individually. As a general guide, treatment is usually considered where your BMI is 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related health condition. The doctor makes the final decision after your assessment.

What results can I expect?

Results vary from person to person and depend on your circumstances and lifestyle. Your doctor will talk you through what is realistic for you at your consultation.

Are there any side effects?

As with any medication there can be side effects. Dry mouth is one of the more common ones, and some people notice changes to sleep that usually settle. The doctor explains the possible side effects relevant to your treatment and gives you an information leaflet.

Is the treatment safe?

The medications we use are prescription-only and are only provided by a qualified doctor at our CQC-registered clinic, after a medical assessment. We also offer follow-up reviews to monitor how you're getting on.

Will you tell my GP?

In line with General Medical Council guidance, if you are prescribed medication we write to your GP following your consultation to keep them informed, and follow this up to confirm the letter was received.
